Euan and Auri bought and carved a pumpkin today. The first of the season! I can’t see it lasting two and half weeks, so something tells me there will be more…
Auri
At the moment, I am keeping a form of tracking journal – I’m sure I’ll explain more over the coming weeks – and, if I leave it out on my desk and Auri sneaks into my room, I sometimes come back to find a little hand has used my fountain pen to carefully make a mark, and then coloured it in, just like I do.
Here’s a photo of Auri yesterday looking angelic as she cuts some cucumber with Euan using her new safety knife. I like looking at photos like this when she’s being a hellchild, like she has been tonight. It helps remind me that, most of the time, she’s pretty great company.
The girls and I had an hysterically good weekend up at Stempster, while Euan was away representing the family at a wedding in Dumfries and Galloway. At one point I was actually crying with laughter during an afternoon of games, which included the world’s most hilarious game of Cluedo (there’s a reason that it’s not recommended for three-year olds). Auri, meanwhile, also had an amazing time making crafts, riding on a train, and generally running rings round everyone; while Scapa thoroughly enjoyed exploring some new (to her) aspects of the Stempster vicinity. All in all, the perfect way to see in the new season.
