The other day, I introduced Auri to Bagpuss. And, despite it being a different pace to some of the gleam and glare these days (which I constantly try to avoid or mitigate), she absolutely loved it. Earlier today, she opted to watch Stoppit and Tidyup.
Scapa
Usually, most mornings, Euan and Scapa get up early-early and go for a walk. They come back, Scapa has her breakfast, and Euan goes back to bed for an hour or two. I get up not too long after this.
This morning, I was up before them, which resulted in Scapa deciding to eat her breakfast with me. She took a mouthful of kibble from her bowl in the kitchen (chicken munched promptly first), came to sit next to me in the sitting room, chomped it up, then went back for more and repeated this process.
Then, she proceeded to refuse to let me do anything except stroke her. Writing, shopping list, everything else be de damned. Eventually, she settled down like this.
The girls and I had an hysterically good weekend up at Stempster, while Euan was away representing the family at a wedding in Dumfries and Galloway. At one point I was actually crying with laughter during an afternoon of games, which included the world’s most hilarious game of Cluedo (there’s a reason that it’s not recommended for three-year olds). Auri, meanwhile, also had an amazing time making crafts, riding on a train, and generally running rings round everyone; while Scapa thoroughly enjoyed exploring some new (to her) aspects of the Stempster vicinity. All in all, the perfect way to see in the new season.
